When do the browns typically head up the west tribs to spawn in the fall? I saw a few last weekend. I've just been using roe bags and beads for them, is that okay?

browns typically follow the chinooks and cohos because they feed on their eggs. Track the spawns of the salmon and you'll find the browns

Brown trout spawn in late fall to early winter, from mid-October to January depending on location.

Usually once the salmon run is past its peak (eggs are laid everywhere) and they are dying off, so they are too weak to protect the eggs...browns will come in big.

Late October and early November is prime time

once the salmons turn...(zombies) browns will come in. but surprisingly this run, some browns were in the mix early...

well browns follow the Chinooks, I have yet to catch a brown, but i've seen many. I lost one to a bad knot a few weeks back.

Especially when fishing is practically dead and you finally have one on, or if you have a PB, IT HURTS!!!!!!!!!!

Browns run the rivers before during and after the salmon there is no set schedule I have caught browns in July and browns in Febuary and even on rainbow opener in April there are browns all over right now and the salmon do not stick around there redds to protect the eggs they drop some eggs fertilize and leave on to the next one often salmon will make 5-10 redds they believe heavily in that famous saying "dont put all your eggs in one basket" and its cause of that there are so many of them and yes the browns eat the salmon eggs but the salmon and every other fish in the rivers eat the salmon eggs too the browns don't follow the salmon feeding on the eggs sure they eat them but the browns run the rivers when there biological clock tells them to salmon or no salmon

migratory browns are a strange stain of fish for sure... i have seen them in the rivers in augest, december and have heard of them caught at trout opener. can a resi spawn a migratory? can a migratory spawn a resi? when do they actualy spawn? do they follow salmon for their eggs, despite the fact of never cohabiting until less than a century ago?

Well said beef...

I would believe that resi browns and migratory browns would spawn together. I know for a fact that sea run steelhead will spawn with resident rainbows.

In my experience out west the browns start showing up around the river mouths pier heads heavily following the first frost. I dont know what the correlation is between the frost and these fish but it has seemed to hold true for the years i have been fishing them. Now that being said I always get the odd brown while chucking for salmon on the pier in august/september, but they dont seem to come in thick until the second last week of October or so and stay around usually into early December. I find roe bags or pink worms seem to take them once they head into the river, if they head into a river. Hope this helps!

browns have been in the tribs since augest just a matter of getting lucky and hooking up. if you are dead set on gettin a brown try some big south shore tribs ....

Yes with the larger tribs, especially the ones you are referring to on the south shore, the Browns are in there early and can be caught almost any time of year, But for the smaller western tribs this is my experience.
