Has any one tried making the minnow trap using a 2l pop bottle? supposedly it works. Never got a chance to try it out maybe this summer.

Looks like you owe us a report when you try it!
Never caught minnows myself, I always went to my buddy's place at Midland / Sheppard to get it. Even though my buddy's never helped me get minnows, their count is like 30+ / dozen you pay for.

ec1, your buddy works at lucky?!

are you secretly the one supplying them with their massive crappies and largemouth in their display tank? haha

And about the pop bottle, yes it should work...

just take a 2 L bottle, cut the top third off, invert it, throw some bait in there....throw in minnow infested stream. voila.

no, and even my buddy won't tell me where his dad caught those fish.

Sad thing is, my buddy HATES fishing. Probably his dad took all the genes in liking fishing Lol.
I kinda feel bad for him though, last year he was at lucky every friday pretty much overnight. It sucks to stay up and sell stuff instead of doing something you like.

Yeah

Any clear glass bottle, or plastic bottle will work. Just fill em with water and some rocks/sand, bread in them. Squish them into the bottom, so the mouth is lying flat on the bottom. Make sure you place it in a protected area, no wind/current.

Come back next day and presto - minnows.

I used to fish this way for exotic tropical fish when I was a kid living in the rainforest jungle of central America. Caught all those pretty ones the pet store sells for aquariums. Just had to watch for the Boas, and Anacondas when near the small creeks.

Up here in Canada you will need to also somehow tag your bottle with your name, address etc, to satisfy the MNR regulations.

GL Bottle fishing.

yes, it does work. My son made a couple of these last summer tried it and it did work for him. Instructions to make these are easily found on Internet

just know this, if you've found a really good spot to set these up, take them out very often or you'll just be hauling out dead minnows

You think they'll survive overnight?, like if you put the bottle in the water at night and take it out in the morning, you think they'll survive?

If you catch a lot of minnows in this trap, there is no way they will survive overnight, maybe few will but most of them will die
