Hey guys I was wondering what is the best all around monofilament line to use these days see I have fished using Daiwa line as well as berkley line in the past but I have just again taken up fishing last season again after about 15 years break so I was wondering what is the stuff to go to for monofilament line these days. I mostly use braid now but for some applications such as Walleye etc I think Mono would be better. I just want to know what your thoughts and experiences are with different mono brands.

I've been using Spiderwire 4#-14# mono line with success for the last 4 years, I'm just now starting to experiment with different lines.

Speaking of spiderwire I bough some from crappy tire last season and I tried to spool a new reel with the line and notice that the line coming off the spool is frayed I wonder if maybe I bought old line. Hence the original reason for my post I wanted to know if there is any other line other than spiderwire mono cause I did not like the fact that the line became degraded over such a short period of time

Actually my bad i was not using spider wire I was using spider line which I suppose is not the same thing :?: heh well I did take a look at some spiderwire and it looks decent. I also heard that the Bass Pro brand is not bad.

Anyone try Berkley sensation for Walleye yet? Just wondering I read some good reviews on another forum...

I've tried the spiderwire xxx super mono which is more forgiving than braid, more durable than standard mono and has a smaller diameter. What I don't like about it is that it has some memory in the line and sometimes comes off the spool more often than stardard mono line. If you don't mind paying more attention to your spool ( I am refering to mostly spinning reels here) than give that a try.

Well you gotta remember... Walleyes have teeth. I would say 8lb 100% flouro carbon is good enough. and Braid as main line to feel the bite/lure/bait.
