Hey Guys,

I am going to be taking the family to Santa's Village which is located on Muskoka River I was wondering if anyone has fished there and can tell me what I can expect etc.

Any information will be greatly appreciated

Damian

That part of the Muskoka river has pike, perch, rock bass, sunfish and largemouth and small mouth. The water is quite dark so I would recommend some of the brighter colours when thinking about lure selection. This section leads out to Lake Muskoka which has some great bass fishing.

Thanks for the information much appreciated. I will be taking a few rods with me I also believe that there is walleye in the River.

If the weather is nice, Santa's Village has a swimming area there and you might be able to make a few casts a little distance away. Also there are people who usually fish at the park which is just below the waterfall further upstream right in Bracebridge. It's a nice park and the kid will have lots of slides and things to play on. Just follow the river upstream from Santa's Village, about 4 or 5 kms.

I tried fishing the River and the action was slow... we were out on the water at 6am and the river fishing was dead I guess maybe it has something to do with the current the fish most likely find rocks which they hide behind to avoid the current etc. Lake Muskoka was bit better my friends were catching all kinds of small mouth bass on poppers. And have seen people catch Pike.
