i just want to thank the guys on here for the information on were to look for the fish, i was at scugog yesterday i searched the lake for weeds & structures i ended up catching alot of small perch none stop in this area i just north of port perry on the west side of the lake that has alot of dry grass in about 3 feet of water i could of seen the weed bed at the bottom & all the perch attacking the bait i ended up catching this bass just right outside the dry grass using live worms & as usual all other anglers i came across was casting out not reeling in anything, i caught another small bass in the dry grass area but i find it so difficult to fish in there with ur line always getting caught in the grass even when i use a weedless setup i think i have more luck using live worms with a floater casting it in the grass & just moving it around a little till i get a bite.

I rented a boat up at Blue marina a few weeks ago and went out on Scugog, had a great time.
I know what you mean about the small perch, at one point I had so many swarming around the bait it looked like a scene out of a 50's sci-fi movie!!

Congratulations, your first was okay size . I don't think I've caught many bass that size or bigger before. lol

I remember my first catch.
it was quite fun really..... after 20 years of being dormant and to come out and catch a three - four pound bass really set the "itch" for fishing.

More than that. But given his age I'd say he's still in the ok range lol (maybe), maybe not.

My guess is it was just a hair under a pound. But what's it really matter this is his first of many I hope. We were in the weedbeds, and everyone else we ran into on the lake was skunked. Franks determination paid off with 2 LMBs.
I think the LMBs are getting smaller, catch and release is not catching on. :cry: Everyone wants that trophy, but that's also breeding stock. :sad:

Everybody has to start somewhere! Keep fishing and trying new places, and learning about bass habitat and lure technique...eventually you'll scoff at 2lb bass. 
Worms/live bait will catch fish for sure, but you can cover much more water, and fish thick weed(aka prime big bass habitat) more effectively with artificials.

Determination is a win/win way to approach fishing!
Catch and release is practice for many anglers. I catch hundreds of bass a season and release all except those too deeply hooked. Always let the big ones go after a quick pic or measurement. Now i find walleye are a little harder to let go since they taste soooooo good.

Frank's bass was hooked in the gills. I'd have to agree with the walleye, I don't know how big is too big to not taste good. The walleye population does'nt have anything to worry about from me since I still have'nt caught any in years.......lol
Walleye must be like women, I repel both.............haha. I'm ok with the women, I just want to catch WALLEYES....DAM IT.........LOL :grin:
HAHAHA...priceless!!! Couldn't agree more, but mine is just fish in general haha.
I'm pretty sure the only bass I caught, which i got last week on my fly rod, was under a 1lb, it wasn't that big...so I'd be in the same boat as fisher lol.
