Hey all,

Fishing at a favourite spot of mine (same lake where I caught my personal best large-mouth), I finally managed to hook-up on my very first bow! My buddy and I were casting in to shore originally targeting some bass, when I managed to spot two rainbow trout jump behind us within 20 feet of the boat. I had a crystal bugger on, and cast out into the deeper part of the lake - after letting it sink, and starting a slow retrieve, BANG - he was on. Put up a great fight, and had a couple nice little runs. All in all, great fish, minimal time out of the water, and released back into the water for another day. Such a beautiful fish! I only had my cell on me, so in no way does the photo do it justice.

Can't wait until next time!!

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the support - none of my friends fly-fish so although they share the admiration of the beauty of the fish, I don't think they realized just how long I was waiting to have one on my line :p Today was more gratifying than catching my 36in. pike haha!

great color i can only imagine on a better camera aswell, i am also stuck with a cell phone camera.

Well done!

May you catch many more BOWS.

Just remember, do not OVER COMPLICATE IT! lol lots of us do, and it will end up driving you crazy.

Trout are just fish, and treat them that way.

Not neccessarily smarter than any others.... lol

I hope you get the chance to try the tribs in the fall and winter.

Rather enjoyable way to spend some time chasing the chrome.

Good luck

Thanks, Blair - I was actually doing a little reading on winter steelheading today - it definitely grabs my interest! Trying to figure out the closest spot to me - either way, the girlfriend lives in the GTA, so I may have to do some fishing up there on one of my visits :p

Congrats on that beautiful fish. For me, there is no other fish that compares to the rainbow. Very gratifying catching a nice one. Thanks for the share.

Thanks, again, everyone! I'm heading out to this lake either tomorrow or Friday and will report back if I happen to hook-up on any more. I have also been toying with the idea of heading up to the Ganny, parking at Sylvan Glen Conservation Area, and trying to hike up the river a bit - I've never fished this trib before so I'm curious as to how busy it will be. Not really fishing for the salmon, but maybe hoping to find a few treasures in the water some where :p

I would avoid the Ganny until the salmon are done unless you want to see stuff like this

I can't believe that..... Just ridiculous... I didn't realize its that bad - even if you hike it a bit, the waters are still pretty crowded with these people?
