I convinced my best friend to come with me. She slept over (the pillow fight was EPIC), went to bed at 2am, woke up at 5, left by 6, was at bass pro at 7 and on the water at 830.

Rented a hut from lucky sons out on the west side of cooks bay. Cost was $45pp. Staff was super friendly and accomodating. They deliver a large pizza to your hut for $20. BOMB. Our hut was on about 40ft of water (Im not sure if thats good....share your input) and the best bait was straight up minnow on a hook, wacky style. I picked up a bunch of jigs in a variety of colours and styles....nothing but minnows seemed to work.

It was my first time but I can proudly say that I did not shed a tear when baiting my first minnow! I kept apologizing to it at first, "sorry fishy, dont worry you're going to a better place..." but after the 2nd I was rippin through them like butter.

We caught upwards of 20 perch but none were keepers :( Still, we had a great time "roughing it". A lot of smoke was comin from our hut....and no one seemed to mind ;) After all, we were just two lil girls fishin'!

Just the rite depth :). Perch are just hard to hit in the winter. It's why guys drill 100 holes and follow them haha. But a hut sure is more room. What do you mean not keepers... Don't let some in my fan hear that. Their fav saying is " may r a small bite but its a good bite". (I'm with you. Not cleaning them unless they are a good size haha). Good job getting out. Gonna try the meet and greet? Trying to convince my gf to come out. She's worried she may be the only girl haha

Great post! I can't give you any advice on ice fishing as I've never been but it sounds like you figured it out and had fun!

I know eh? All I keep picturing is that pillow fight lol!!

try the main lake for both quantity and quality, nice job on your first outing, 40 feet is a good depth but this warm weather has the jumbos shallower, much much shallower

Never been ice fishing, but it looks like you and your friend had a great time by the smiles on your faces, regardless of your catch.

Good going girls :) If I were a fish I'd let you guys catch me all day long
