Hey guys sorry i haven't been around lately. Anyway, the good news is i got a center pin outfit!!!!!!!

I got an okuma raw hahaha just kidding NADO

I actually got a raven vectra SST-2 and a raven matrix 12'9 rod. The reel spins great and balances pretty awesome with my rod.

The bonus is the reel is pretty darn sexy for a $270 reel

me? i never had issues with aventa. my buddy actually loves raw II. i told you to check amundson, their reels is solid. would be good for your budget too. i just like raven everything but reels, they are too light for me and not an upgrade. but i am glad you bought a good reel. where did you buy it? at the show?

Maybe it wasn't you that said to stay away from the aventa. Anyway, i got it at sail burlington along with the rod. I was between the im8 13' and the matrix rod but i decided to go with the 3 piece so it fits in my car better. I might go to the show next year, but not this year <_<

Catfish congrats on your set up have fun fishing with it. C&R as much as possible :)
Good luck.

i went and read(searched for the word aventa) the entire thread. redneck said something about the rod, no one said anything about the reel.

It'll be more like C&S (catch and snap) for a while. :D

Can't go wrong with a 3 piece. Discourages theft too when it's out of sight in the trunk!! I think you made a good choice with a raven reel, although you could have gone with the plain one and saved $100 and it would've spun the same, but we all need what we need! At least you didn't buy a kingpin! My son has a raw II, and it's a decent enough reel for the price. I fished his reel one day when I first got it for him, and while it doesn't have near the startup of my tournament drifter or my blackbird, it works well enough! I will eventually clean and oil the bearings and I expect it will run a little better! Have fun!

That's a nice outfit...
I think it matches very well, and will be easy on your arms for some full days of fishing...

Enjoy man! Who cares what kinda reel or rod, you gotta start somewhere right? Now you just have to find some open river, it's pretty cool fighting one on a pin.

I'm changing my profile pic. It looks like the whale/fish took a dump and now it's stuck all over him
