My secret spot and other fishing myths

Ontario Fishing Forums

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

Garry2rs maybe I'm reading u wrong but u seem to do an awful lot of complaining. Relax and fish bud! "If I misinterpreted u I apologize"

I don't even follow your rant here sorry. Relax enjoy kill the work week talking with other fishermen and then when the weekend comes get out and fish.

Be thankful for the time and effort people put in to create this beast I work in this field and I know first hand the pains that come along with it so lets all just say TX for these boys taking the time to build and run this thing in there SPARE time.

They put on contests hand out free gear and you know what u get some good info from the people around here.

So over all GREAT job boys keep it up!

Garry2rs...Im not sure but maybe you should go through the archives of this board. We initially held an experiment in finding fish in unusual locations.(NOT FARM PONDS WE ALREADY KNOW THERE IS FISH IN THEM!)
Once this location has been identified, we try our hardest to make sure it doesnt get over fished...something along the lines of this.."I don't mind sharing lake names of larger bodies of water...However, I don't know who is reading this and small cottage lakes can't stand the pressure of a bus load of catch and keep fish harvesters"
This is exactly how we feel...so where is the problem here?

Please advise.
Thanks for the pat on the back Yawn, we ALL try to keep this board fun, informative and also a challenge to find new bodies of UNFISHED waters.

okok, we shouldnt flame anyone on this site.

in a way, its kind of different on this site where the majority*?* of the people here do not own a boat, and naming these "shore hot spots" online happens to go to everyone - which ends up into an extremely crowded spot that used to be shared amongst a few.

and i agree with garry2r's - we should be sharing this information about water temps and barometric changes and conditions that you were fishing in.
at the same time, i dont own a boat, and i do not have any ideas about depth + water temps, and next time i should really share my air temps + conditions.

let me tell one of my things lately, the place i've been fishing on in scugog has a streetlamp that lights up a portion of the dock, really close to shore. When you cast right outside of this part of water that is lit, you will likely find yourself some crappie.

The point of my post was that as far as I know the report section is inexcessable, and that locked reports are unneccessary. I don't need to know what lake you fished, the important information is:
How, as in technique.
Were, as in depth, cover, and structure.
Why, as in: What caused you to fish that spot? Bait fish seen jumping etc.
When, as in time if day, weather conditions...etc.
Who, as in tell me about yourself.
What, as in bait, and what happened, and what did you see.
My other motive was to generate some discussion...
That's the life blood of a board and I was trying to give some of you a reason to dust off your keyboard and join in.

I am currently away from the lakes, taking a break in the city. I just finished a stretch where I had 8 clients in 11 days and needed some time off...HAHAHA. Next week I will start posting fishing reports in the open area.

How can you guys think Garry is complaining?! The guys comes on here and provides some invaluable info that everyone should listen to if they are serious about fishing and you guys flame him??????

Fine we'll lose the good contributors like Garry and have to read through posts about people making carp burgers or catching goldfish :)

Garry2rs, I think there's been some miscommunication here, Openfire (the head admin) hasn't been around lately, hopefully sometime this or next week I'll get him to grant you access. I already read your excellent kawarthas report, it qualifies 100%, its just that the guy is quite busy which is why your new report & a few others haven't been approved already.

On the other hand I can approve & transfer your report to the "South East Ontario" (kawarthas) section, I just can't grant access because I don't have the powers to do so. I'll shoot a pm to Openfire & let him know what's going on. Thanks for your patience bud.

Did I make toronto_angler cry? I'm sorry but here's a tissue.
TOUGHEN UP SUNSHINE!

I am in complete agreement with everyone...you are all right, and Garry2rs is providing most excellent info, much appreciated...but we are not all experts and don`t all have boats, or cars, but some access should be granted to active users of the forum who want to participate in the discussions and information and can`t get out there and fish out these spots, cause we don`t have boats or cars...hey who wants to take me fishing?? please??

Welcome to the board Garry2rs!

The problem has been fixed and your report has been moved to the SE Ontario Reports section.

Thanks for contributing and sorry about the delay.

Cheers!
