Hi, I need some help please. We, are bringing my 90 year old Dad to fish the second week in May from Missouri. Probably in the Bob Caygeon area, ( we have friends in that area). He wants to catch walleye and we also would like to ship some home. I have tried to find out the rules for doing that, and keep coming up empty. Also can he bring his fillet knives? He is bringing his own rods and reels. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.

Hey Roni check the regs here http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/Le ... 63615.html

And if he is fly`ing in, then no he will not be able to bring his fillet knives, but if he was driving, then he might. Although they may check, and confiscate at the border. I am not too sure about transporting the fish back...Food going over border need to be declared.

Hope you find the info you are looking for. Some good fishing up there. (Bobcaygeon)

David, thank you! We will be driving, so I am sure he will want his knives with him. In looking at what type of license we will need, I think the sport fishing, 8 day. Along with the card that we need to purchase. I printed off the pics of how you need to clean and bag what you catch, now I just need to find out if we can ship our limit home daily or just freeze it and bring it back with us. 8)

If the information you seek isn't outlined in the regs, you can call the Ministry of Natural Resources at

Great, you guys are the best, I knew a girl could count on a fisherman!
Thank you very much. 8)

Remember that fishing from a boat is almost necessary on the 2nd saturday of may. The dam is not open for fishing as of the 2nd week..And IF you guys stay until the 3rd saturday in may, I suggest not bringing your dad to go fish at the dam because it becomes quite hectic at the opener..You will have probably 10 - 15 people trying to fish the one of the two productive spots......
Don't have tips for in a boat...but Good luck!!
