New comer

Hi Everyone!
Good to know you people, and this great forum.
I am from Korea, visiting Canada for few years, stayed about one year now.
It's great place to stay.

Last summer I happened to drop by Canadian Tire,
And found a spinning reel combo on a big sale.
I bought it, and few days later went to fishing to Ontario Lake.
You know what? I've caught one pike and a large mouth Bass in my first day!
Ever since I am into fishing and bought a centerpin reel and rod,
And I've been traveling all around GTA chasing for salmon and trout but NO LUCK.
Too bored by Toronto's long winter,
Bought a small tank to watch fish around, even they are tiny little but lovely gold fish.
Maybe this spring, I could have chance to fight with big fish.

That's very similar to my start, I actually still buy mostly cheap gear at CT, Walmart, etc. It works great!

Sounds like an excellent start, congrats!

Great start same here caught a big bass and catfish 1st time and didnt even know how my rod worked. Theres a lot of talk on lake ontario see what you can search up.
