Hi,

I've been fishing since I could walk, but have never tried fly fishing. I'm looking for somewhere between Toronto and Muskoka where I could learn to do it. I love fishing. I haven't had a ton of time to do it over the past 7 years (since i had kids), but it's something I'm trying to get back into. My family has a house that we use as a cottage in the Parry Sound area and we have a small boat, so we fish smaller lakes in the Muskokas. We do mainly catch and release, but we keep the occasional bass or pickerel for supper.

I also teach in the Durham area and at some point, I would like to start a fishing club to try and introduce fishing and conservation to kids who may otherwise never have the opportunity to experience it. But this is a long shot. I'm sure they would tell me I need to pay for a lifeguard before I can take kids anywhere near a river! In any event, I need to get back into it and learn more about river fishing / fly fishing before I would ever try this. If anyone has any places they know of that offer fly fishing lessons, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks.

Doug swift in wasaga offers lessons, and he and his buddy Marty did the women's casting demo at the spey cave last year. My cousin has used him and says he's a cool old dude, and I've fished with Marty before

Thanks for that info. Much appreciated. I'll look him up and see where exactly he's located.
