New Lures, Any Good?

Hey guys!

Just got new lures today! They are a green spinner, and a two inch, green crankbait with a small lip. The crankbait stays on the topwater when I reel it in, and i'm wondering if that is good? The type of fish I am targeting is any fish in the Niagara Whirlpool lol. Should I use a crankbait that goes a little deeper, or is it good to have it on the topwater? Also, should I attach a weight to my line when using such bait?

The spinner also tends to stay on the topwater, but I think with the addition of a few weights on the line it should sink. Again, would I want it to sink or stay on the topwater?

Like I stated previously, I am not going for a specific type of fish, just any fish that is in the Niagara Whirlpool.

I plan on using some corn, the crank bait, and spinner I got today. Would this be a good setup for the whirlpool or should I add a few more things?

And finally, if anyone has any advice on how to fish the Niagara Whirlpool that would be great. I'm just wondering how to fish in such current. I posted a question about the whirlpool yesterday and got some great answers!!

Sorry for all the questions lol, I realize this is a rather annoying post but bear with me as I am new to fishing.

Find the pockets and watch and learn how the water is moving, it is contantly changing down there. As i said before in your other post you shopuld check out the Glen, it is a lot easrier to get down to and produces good fishing.

I have had success with spinneas and DT crank baits, also weight tubes, remeber if you get a snag let out some line and let the current un-snag you. I have done this several times with great succes.

thanks a lot, and I did see your post about the Glen

How would I get there? And is it on the side of the golf course or the other side? If you can be as specific as possible that would be great lol, im aweful geographically ;P

Heres a link to the glen site: google map it from your location the site will tell you how to get down the gorge. Just remember when you go down stay to the left, but you can go to the right also your choice. Enjoy it is beautiful down there.

it is on the river side there is a sign at the road side.

most lures tells you the depth of feet on the box, somewhere. i don't know how deep for the topwater and you deffinitly want it to sink.

Yup you want it to sink. in the Glen there are lots of coves, and they are so deep cause remember the falls used to be right there carving it out so I wouldn't be apprised if it was 200ft deep. Find the cover it's not always gonna be huge maybe 10feet long and 5ft out, it's gonna be 150feet deep so float fish slip bobbers with roe bags you should get into trout. LOL you've inspired me to fish the pool tomorrow

At the whirl pool water depth 155 ft, throught the glen the "ravine" 60 ft in some coves up to 15 ft
