Hey OFF!

I got myself new bait yesterday for a late christmas present. They are little plastic fish, and come in a sort of ziplock bag. The package says they are 'scented' and I am wondering if a scented bait does in fact increase your chances of getting a fish on the line, or if it is just a money grab. Also, is it ok if I remove these scented baits from the bag and put them into my tackle box? Or should I keep them in the bag to preserve their scent?

All help is appreciated!!

Thanks,

Hi Grappler29, that is a debate that's been going on on several treads. I don't think it's going to catch you more fish however it will increase your catch ratio as the fish will tend to hold on longer to the bait giving you the chance to notice a bite and do a hook set. As for removing them from the bag I believe the air will eventually dry out the scent if you do so. Best to keep them in the ziplock to avoid that from happening. But that's just my opinion.

I use soft plastic baits all the time work great ,,keep them in the zip bag if you take them out you will loose the sent and they will dry up rock hard ,, just my 2 cents,,

I find that they may increase the amount of bites in some cases but really they just keep the fish holding on longer. Definitely keep them in the original bag.

If you wanna take them out of the bag put them in a plano box for example, just sprinkle a little table salt on top and rub a bit on each one by just moving them around in your fingers then your good to put them in a box. Just try to keep them out of the sun, in your box or bag or boat locker is fine. Was going thru my dads tackle and he has soft plastics still moist and plyable and in perfect condition literally from 20+ years ago. He used this salt trick.
