New to fishing

Hi folks. I'm pretty much a fishing novice and don't have much idea what I'm doing. I live in Toronto and expect to fish here in the Humber and ponds etc. I have a pretty good idea how to fish for carp and some idea how to fish for trout ( as far as drifting some kinda bait through river pools goes) any suggestions or resources would be VERY welcome. I want to keep it pretty simple to start. Thanks!
