Hello everybody!

I have lurked this website quite a few times before for some awesome fishing tips, so I figured it was finally time to join.

Growing up I really enjoyed to fish, but due to competitive sports I rarely ever had time for it. Finally, after being unable to continue to compete in sports, I have finally been able to once again find my love for fishing!

I am realistically a rookie at fishing, but I love getting out to fish; even if it's just making a few casts to learn the best way to retrieve a new lure, or try out a random new spot.

I am currently taking my first shot at the winter lakers/steelies!.. If anybody has any tips or pointers, they would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks everybody, and happy fishing!

Welcome. What kinda fish are you holding in your profile pic?

If this is your first time going for steelies there are a lot of pointers to give (I should know because I just started this fall). In my opinion they are one of the hardest species to fish, hook and land.

I am sort of a fishing noob myself but when you have mad skillz like I do, lookin like a pro is easy.

Nudder Hamiltonian.
Welcome.
Steelies/Chrome are fickle, some days they will attack everything presented, some days they will leave you with zilch. You never know. That is the challenge.
FisherGirl, I would love to see these mad skillz so I can look like a pro too.

Alfie.

Welcome, Hamiltonfisherman94 is right there is a lot of people from Hamilton on here. There is a lot of discussions recently on lake Ontario maybe you'll find it useful. Is that a rainbow in your profile picture?

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

You are correct Jet fishin, the fish in my DP is a rainbow; caught it bombing some spoons off of a local pier. Also thanks for the heads-up about all of the recent discussions; I'll be sure to have a quick browse through them!

FisherGirl, you gotta strut those skillz and knowledge and fill me in on some tips/pointers for winter steelies!

welcome aboard, i was a lunker also in the past, but i thought it would just be fair to join in and share a few things with other people, if there is anything you need to know and i have an answer i will really be happy to share it with you and everybody, so again, welcome aboard!

Welcome to OFF Jordan. Winter fishing for steelhead fishing is very challenging. The very first challenge you will face is getting up and deciding if you're going to go out there in the cold weather without the guarantee of catching fish. But one thing I can assure you, it is fun out there with so few anglers and so much water to cover (this of course depends on which trib). cold temps kinda help thin the herd.
