Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, but have been reading for a while now.

Up until the last two seasons I was putting 50 plus days of mostly shore fishing in a year. That all changed when I moved to hamilton and started renovations and had a baby lol.

I'm a multi species fisherman, but target carp most of the time. I have had great luck with carp in toronto and the whirlpool but Hamilton has skunked me on all kinds of fishing on 20 plus outings with the exception of a 12lb sheepshead caught of fisherman's pier.

I love fishing the whirlpool but don't have time to get there much anymore. I have caught lakers, SM, drum and an elusive Buffalo carp at the whirlpool. I have also seen my Buddie get skunked there when we spent a grueling 18 hours of straight fishing down there.

I don't know why I'm having such a tough time in hamilton. I would like to thank hammercarp for all your posts. The have been helpful.

I have attached pictures of my first and PB carp caught in a trib in toronto. It was 22lbs (I know to hold them different now) I use bolt rigs and a mix of hair rigs , dough bait and corn.
My PB LM and pike were caught on a finesse worm on back to back casts on Simcoe. LM 6.2lbs and the Pike at 7 lbs.

I have hunted pike a lot but can never get a get them to bite. Only 2 lifetime.
PB SM is 2lbs
PB Steelhead caught from Lake O at 12lbs.
PB walleye 5lbs
PB sturgeon 2lbs caught on the Ottawa river bottom bouncing for walleye.

The Mahi Mahi was 11 lbs caught in Costa rica

If you notice all of my PB mostly have come from a boat...shore fishing which I'm mostly stuck with has not alway been good to me.

Welcome to OFF and nice variety of multispecies you got there, especially the buffalo carp.
Thanks for the welcome!
I've read a lot of your posts and they have been very helpful!
I've been dying to get out carping. I barely got out last year and was skunked on them all year for the first time ever. All my fishing buddies move away. I'm hoping hamilton is better to me this year. If anyone fishing the hamilton area wants to go hook in to some fish this year send me a message.
I'm still looking for the Buffalo carp picture..I'll post it when I find it

Just to point out. A Buffalo is a native N American spieces, not very common. But is not a Carp. As far as I know. Nice catch tho. I have never met one in person.

Alfie.

I actually did know that, and it was quite evident when you look at the eyes. I wouldn't have know what it was; but I saw Bob Izumis show the day before and they caught one.
They are iridescent and probably one of the best looking fish I've seem on our waters. I caught it on a grape/dog kibble dough ball at the whirlpool.

I looked everywhere for that picture of it and it seems it's the only fish that I've caught that I don't have the picture for..

I've been eyeing up that place on my home every morning. I didn't know you could fish there.
You can pm me if you want. But is there an big boat slip in there or put my lines out on the west part into the bay?

Hammercarp, I just went to fish the CCIW and almost got nailed for trespassing. I missed the tiny sign right at the front.

Have you had any issues there?
