New to OFF and (river) fishing!

Hey everyone on OFF

I would like to introduce myself here on OFF. I'm turning 30 in a few weeks, lived all my life in Southern Etobicoke, married, have a 2 y/o daughter with one more on the way.

I fished daily as a young kid/teenager, but times have changed and life has kept me busy and away from the fins. I have recently started to get the opportunity to go out and walk the rivers near the GB area, where it is peaceful and serene.

Looking forward to learning more techniques and expanding my skills in float fishing and perhaps dabble in some noodle fishing.

lol I guess its called float fishing not noodling. ive heard that term from friends where they use noodle rods (15' +). thx for tge warm welcome

All my friends think I fish exclusively for weeds, with the amount I pull up!!!

I'd go for pike! The season closes at the end of March, so you got a few days left... Not really a pike expert but, I would probably go down to the Toronto Waterfront or Islands to fish for them. I know your in Etobicoke, so from a quick google earth you could try your hand at Colonel Samuel Smith Park, but don't know what swims around there...

Thanks FishingNoobs. Wilk keep that in mind but would need to modify my setup in order for pike. Dont get me wrong I'd love to get some nice pike on but have invested my money in some trout gear and would hate for that to go sit and collect dust. Wilk try and slowly get into the heavier outfits for that type of fishing

Welcome to OFF. not a lot of investments on pike on summer as they will hit anything after spawn period. but if you wanna go out right now to catch some before the season closes. Get the cheapest suspending plugs you can get. or some size #2 to #3 spinners. Pike are sluggish but still feeds.

welcome, you could try humber too which cant be too far from you if you're in etobicoke, there's a salmon and steelhead(trout) run each year, and i've heard of brown trout there

Nope not a vegetarian, I love my red meat and chicken and fish! Oh my am I ever hungry

First year I went out I almost exclusively caught salad! People started inviting me to vegetarian cooking courses! Then I knew I had to catch a fish plus invite them all out for burgers, steak and wings!

Ah, good boy. Those seaweed salads taste like what survivor-man would eat. They may be good in a survival situation, but not at any other time.
