Hey there everyone

I am new to the Forum but have been fishing my whole life. I begain fishing with my dad around the age of 4 and have continued ever since I am now 26 and still have strong passion for all types of fishing. Most of my experiance is in bass fishing but I have also ice fished good potions of the winters away. I wanted to join a forum to see what its like as well as get infromation on other tyoes of fishing. I fish for trout and salmon every year with scattered success but lack a real understanding of whats involved and correct times I usually just hope for the best and pay attention to water levels. I would love to learn how to fish for smelt as well.

Anyway I am looking forward to this years Trout and Salmon runs and will be going out early september onward into the colder mouths to try to get a better understanding of when the fish move. I am slightly confuced on what rivers and fishing spots are in which Tributaries as it states that mentioning exact locations is not permitted. can anyone give a basic break down of what rivers are in what tribuaries?

Hey thanks for the welcoming I hope to give good contributions where I can.

And ya I am assuming I will not have a whole lot of luck fishing for Salmon until later in september but I was reading a different discussion thread and someone (I cant remember their name) mentioned two big hits on a cleo in late august, so on the nights I dont have to much going on I might as well, the river mouths I am thinking of are only about 15 mins from my house.

As for smelt fishing I have always been intrigued by the idea I just unsure idea on timing I know april is usually the time of year in and around the hamilton area but is there a fall seson as well?. Smelt are known to be on the move on well lit full moon nights and are attracted to light. Fishing involves a dip net, a light source and patience.

On a different note I already have an itch to icefish as I now have a bran new Helly hansen survival suit begging to see some cold weather.

welcome--zone 16 and 17 i believe on the MNR regs site will five you a great idea of not only what tribs are where but what you are allowed to do on those tribs...and when you do fins a spot that yields fish--guard it like a family heirloom .....

Welcome to the forum. With a detailed intro like that, there is no need for me to ask my usual questions. You'll fit right in.
