Newbie here, good day good day...

Ontario Fishing Forums

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

Hehehe...it's all good, I get it all the time :)

I'm a computer programmer and I've had the luxury of working on some awsome fishing sites and forums and I heard a lot of great things about this site, especially how friendly and welcoming people are to new members and anglers who join this site.

But what I find funny is how there are roughly 100 views for each new members "introduction post" and only 1 or 2 "welcoming" replys...

Talk about a welcoming comittee, no offense but no wonder this site only has 6740 members, now lets subract that from ontario's 13,350,000 population of men, women, and youth who fish...disappointing!

Word of mouth can make or break any forum, website, or business...

Thanks again for the reply Luke, it's members like you that give great fishing sites like this one a good repution, cheers and FISH ON!!!

John

Well--quite an introduction. I've only just seen your post today, that makes 65 views and hello and welcome.
You are correct, you will find that the folks are very friendly here-moreso than other boards.
What about you? An introduction--what's your passion brother?

Enjoy the stay
CC

Thanks CC...

I love fishing for Bows and Salmon, I just moved to Barrie from North Bay and 2010 was my first year fishing the Nottawasaga in Angus.

I got 12 Salmon(biggest 17lbs) two of which where Cohos, 6 Bows(biggest 4lbs), and 8 Pike(biggest 6lbs), not to bad I guess.

I got em on Mepps, Canadian Wigglers, Blue Fox Vibrax, and Cotton Cordell Super Spot Rattles...

I saw a guy pull out a 15lb Pike from that river in november at the sand dunes right infront of the stop sign nailed to the fence, must of been gorging on all the little bows.

Does anybody know where I can fish for Brown and Speckled around here?

Funny enough I usually dont welcome much, but when I saw that the usual suspects missed you I figured someone had to be hospitable :)

I knew that quote would be something along the lines of me hearing "Luke.. I am your father" , I just couldnt help it :)

Sounds like you had a pretty good first fall there. How late into the fall did you fish? I imagine switching to roe and pink worms later on in the fall and finding some good pools (sorry I dont know the Notty) would keep that procuctivity going until ice up.

The salmon and steelhead forum has lots of good threads on late season steelheading (which is also the same way you would target browns)

I fished until Dec, switched over to roe and crawlers after the Salmon where done and got some bows, found some really good pools, had a log splitting accident and it messed up my left hand/fingers, still recovering, rainy weather and the cold kills, so I'm outta comission til spring(hence why I posted the "hemorrhoidal mouse" question in which I asked where I can buy one). Doc says I won't have a full recovery, but a decent one if I'm lucky, just gotta hope for the best, and maybe I'll be able to tie flys again one day...

It's ok though, tuning into float^drifter's latest catches keeps my spirit high, especially with those pics, inspirational stuff.

Hehehe, I hear ya...

Wife loves Salmon, thrown on a BBQ or in a smoker, for me it's Walley, Speckles, Bows and Browns all the way...

So Walley huh, buddy of mine took me out ice fishing on Trout Lake back in 2000 just after I graduated high school...he pulled out a 17 pound 3 oz Walley, I kid you not, no word of a lie, weighed it and everything, should of seen the belly on it...all I got was a 13 and a 15 pound pike!

The Sturgeons and Muskys that I've seen caught out of that lake left me in shock like a kick to the plums!!!

i'm up hwy 11 in orillia ...maybe we can hook up for a fish sometime. i target anything with gills and a swim bladder but mostly trout, walleye, and crappies

I fish mostly on the Seaway, from Cormall to Sorel Que.I live in Brossard Que, but originally from Ottawa. BOQ is on my agenda for this season, but my favorite body of water to fish is Lake St Francis. 5-7 lb smallies all day long and walleye to die for.
I took up musky fishing last summer, got a nice 42 incher for a 1st.
I have a post in the general fishing section, Some pics of my last season in there.
