Going up with a buddy of mine to do some trout fishing. He told me about this spot and recommended me to go with him and try it out. He's been going to this spot for awhile now and last week he landed 3 nice rainbows I think.

I've been going through the net looking for more info on Niagara Falls whirlpool, seems like a pretty nice place to fish. Any of you guys on here ever been? Don't know if it's one main place to fish there or a bunch others, found a few different locations on the web in regards to it.

Will be heading there Sunday probably, will post report with pics (pics of the location if I don't catch anything)

Safe fishing,

gluck, I'm not a trout guy, so I don't have anything to help you with.
but GODDANGIT, its february and im dying to fish

i'd have to say that trout are my favorite fish to catch, but right now i would be happy to fish for my pet goldfish  lol

Hey Guys,

I can't say enough about the Whirlpool. The fishing is great most of the time and you'll catch everything from trout, salmon, smallmouth bass, muskie and carp. If it was up to me I'd fish there most of the time, but because of my disability I can no longer climb up and down the very steep gorge. The trails are marked " use at your own risk" so please be careful getting to the whirpool. Also, keep an eye on the water level as it tends to fluctuate and you could suddenly find yourself knee deep and waving good bye to your tackle box and lunch.

You'll get some snags but well worth the fish you'll catch at this great spot.

Regards,

BigGuy

sounds pretty sweet!! id def have to check it out. n big guy what type of disability? i've got 2 bummed knees would it advisable for me to go?

Hey Porter86,

If you have 2 bum knees, I wouldn't even think of going down that gorge to the whirlpool. You might make it down but there's no way you could make it up. Sorry buddy. The fishings great, but it's not worth risking a serious injury. I kid you not. It's risky terrain.

Regards,

BigGuy

Thanks bugguy, thats to bad, it sounds really sweet to go. i've dislocated my right knee 24 times but its pretty good, n my left i just dislocated it in sept, n im in the process of getting it better. too bad....

Started with hockey, like 4 or 5 times with hockey, n than jumping, sitting on a couch, biking. u name it,lol.

Was at the whirlpool on Saturday but did not see any fish. The fishing can be very good here but I find it is either dynamite or there is nothing. This is big water so you should prepare gear wise - heavier line and weights. The walk is not a killer but the path this time of the year is extremely treacherous.

Hey Grey,

I was at the whirlpool on Saturday also with 2 buddies. And your right, nothing there that day. Although around 4 pm there was a guy that caught a nice rainbow using a fake minnow.

Right again about the path being pretty bad around this time of year. Lots of covered ice and show going down and going up the hill was hell also.

Come spring/summer the path down/up should be fine. Break a little sweat but nothing more really.

Might be heading down again on Saturday. Will post pics if anything is caught.

Safe fishing
