Noobs "Camping" at Opener

Ontario Fishing Forums

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

I sometimes just don't sleep but I might be camped out someplace in the Bruce. Might drift down the big water of conditions allow.

This too is my first opener so i'm not really sure what to expect. I'm still trying to figure out where to go lol.

I'm usually at whatever spot i'm fishing before first light.. sounds like i need to be at the opener spots a few hours before that.

You a cop!!! <_< LOL Would love to get out with some of you guys sometime. Where abouts are you from DK?

I am located in Stoney Creek, consider my "home" fishing grounds the upper and lower ni_ _ _ _ _ do 90% of my fishing there. Our cottage is just outside of Kill Bear National Park ( Parry Sound ).

If you are down this way drop me a PM if you want to get out.

Cheers bro.

i just fish night to morning with glow sticks then get some sleep when the river is packed then fish during sunset then go home but for opener ill be oout for the whole weekend

hey bow man i grow up in the falls i khow the pool like the back of my hand ilove it down there any time my friend just let me know i can make it down not that big of drive for me

i might drag my dad and grandpa to the river at 2 in the morning and probably stay there till later saturday night 90% chance ill be in my backyard ;-)

i might camp out on the riverside at a g-bay trib or an east trib that doesn't get fished much, depending on water conditions, hopefully the g-bay trib if it isn't too blown.

Is a FIRE a bad idea?????
No...just check the reg's for the area you will be. Keep it small and keep it burning, it is still going to be cold through the nights. ( so a little bottle of "warmth" would also be good. ;)

Fire is not an option when camping pretty sure its mandatory...LOL
I agree! Just wondering what experiences other ppl have had. I'm afraid of the authorities kicking us out from our spot and ruining my opener!

oh that sounds soooo good. especially after this winter....holy hell....i cant wait!

I've done this in the past... It generally goes like this: Identify an area that is loaded with fish during the day. Return later in the evening and set up shop a few hours before midnight (see troutddicted's photo as a set-up reference), militantly not letting any outsiders infringe on your group's space...

Then, at the stroke of midnight:

Ok....now I'm really pumped!

As we did last year, got one of our trailers out of storage mid Feb been working it on it since then.
Shes 99% ready to go!
Anyone out east will see us.

Good luck on trying to fish at midnight, in the past couple years I have seen it all. Its very difficult especially with a walk on the bank at night. People have rolled their ankles, dislocated knees. All kind of injuries due to lack of light.

I am up and out of the trailer around 5am, on the water at first light.
