november is not a month i consider carp fishing but as i was pike fishing i saw a few hungry looking carp....
went to the store and bought a 99 cent can of corn....
i now have caught and landed 4 november carp over 4 different outings...
i lost a couple in battle...6lb test failures....geese flying into my line with a 25lb carp on line....
caught my first pike on corn as it attacked the corn on a hook i was reeling in....pike pic incl here
i catch one or two incidental carp a year...when i target them they ussually avoid me....
my recent success excites me for next year's fishing season.

good job tangledline
have you tried the hair rig? 20lb braid is ok since carp is not line shy.

Catching a bonus pike while carp fishing puts you in a league of your own!

Have you tried chumming the water?

Thanks for the share!

efka ...what is a hair rig and how do you present it??
...i tried 8lb power pro braid and the clever fishies figured it out and turned away...
same hook and bait ...same day, same hour, same water conditions but 6lb mono and the fish is on the shore.
i even cut off a large amount of braid in case it had become contaminated with scent from a previous catch....
i do not fully understand it myself but i am using the mono under these water conditions as its been the only way i have managed to get
the fish (different species too) to bite.

I used to always use a very light leader when fishing for carp... Mind you, where I was fishing was heavily pressured (and clear water), so I think they were definitely line shy.

openfire...i have tried chumming..caught two that way...but i also caught two carp and a pike by presenting only the hook with three kernals of corn
if the bottom of the area i find the carp in allows the corn to be easily found chumming makes alot of sense...if its heavily weeded i would try just the hook presentation.

efka... thankyou for the link....i printed out the instructions...looks like another method to catch carp with...thanks!
....fyi.. your replies when posted have a huge space after your post...it shows up like a huge space a few screens long...no other posts do this???
....also if i try to click on the thankyou or quote part of your posts at the bottom of the post the font gets all messed up and the bar with the features moves away from my cursor???
i really like the look of the new forum and some of the new features....the administrators and moderators are doing an awesome job puting this together!!!
i am sure there are a few kinks or problems you are trying to workout...

You're correct, bugs are still being worked out, but I'm glad you like what you see so far!

This only happens after efka's replies?

What browser are you using and what screen resolution? (so I can look into it)

i have the space at the bottom too, running opera which sometimes have all kinds of little glitches, saw it on some other forums and websites, not big deal for me. ie is showing ok, no spaces there just don't like the browser
everything else works flawless

edit: there was a space when i was reading and writing reply, disappeared after i added reply. showed again on edit and stayed after i pressed saved. weird

openfire i am using windows internet explorer and yes this happens only after efka's replies....
mykester i am fishing for carp in the afternoon noon until 4pm
looked across the harbourfront on thurs nov18 did not see a carp from york quay all the way west to the other side of ontarioplace......
