CJR I know what you mean about itching for chrome. Getting a little off topic but you started it so here's some of mine with that reel, lol :

Aren`t winter fish stunning?

Oh and I liked the line you had on the reel so much that I respooled with more of it once it got long in the tooth. :D

That second one is shaped like a brown!

There is a peace and solitude that comes with being outdoors in the cold and doing things you'd normally do in warmer weather, permitted you can withstand the cold.

Fantastic!..... good lord the Coho male is a beautiful fish, long time no see! Thank you!

and that Atlantic.... wow

Atlantics...been there, done that...they're OK I guess...........

Love the pics Luke, coloured up bows are definitely one of my favourite to catch. The mainline is good, used it on the KP until this spring, cheap and effective

darn CC, what a beautiful fish.

Wow CC, you've got quite the archive of photo's. Fantastic Atlantic ;) You look so young in that picture... early 50's by the looks of it.

I couldnt agree more, its absolutely the best time of year!! Peace and quiet, solitude no sweaty walks no bugs no chubs no loogans! I get goosebumps just thinking about all that cool refreshing air and an abundance of chrome!!

Beauty CC!!!

Question if anyone can answer....

in the late 80s I was in Germany, in the North hard up against Denmark and I helped a club capture "Lux" from which we obtained the milt and lose eggs for a hatchery porgramme the locals ran. Seeing CC's heavily spotted Atlantic brought back a flood of memories of my time there.

Question: What are Lux? They were sea-run salmonoids from the Baltic and North Sea. Are they Atlantics? Some even looked like large ocean-run Browns. My German was too rusty to figure it all out at the time.

German Atlantic Salmon.... I just never hear anything about it

hmmm.... that photo really rekindled some memories, CC

I may scan a photo from that moment in time

ok just answered my own question from an internet search....

Atlantic Salmon were once widespread over Germany and they have suffered greatly this past century but steps are underway to try to reestablish them which has been somewhat successful in some areas... somewhat

they were large gorgeous fish when I was handling them, and the tiny creeks we were catching them in astounded me
