Good day everyone!

Just wanted to take the time to thank the administrators, moderators and MEMBERS (New & Old)

I wrote a Topic the other day that I do not regret, but after some thought ... feel that it had a negative tone ... rather than Positive.

The exact thing that induced the Original Post in the first place!

LOL

Forgive me, I have sinned. My apologies for that.

I know it’s not a “Perfect World” and believe me – I’m far from perfect, but felt there had been a change in the “tone” on the board.

My intentions were more of a WAKE UP CALL, “Rise to Arms” to stop this behaviour in its tracks.

I was getting worried we would start deteriorating to what other sites have become and that is not what OFF is about!

(at least in my opinion & enjoyment)

Here is the diplomatic & professional way the moderators and administration responded:

I think the main reason its happening is because the changes of the forum layout. Last year we were running the old forums and there were different rules as who gets to see reports and so on. It was simply no reports - no access to the reports. Originally this new forum was supposed to have this feature with tier 1 and tier 2 sections, but due to openfire's busy work schedule he could not complete it on time. All this will change very soon. Patience.

It is time consuming and it's hard to follow each topic and every post. Mods are not always online so they cannot delete inappropriate posts the second it was posted, but you as users can report any reply that you think was inappropriate by pressing a button on the left side of that reply. Thanks for all your help.

All my fishing equipment and tackle is tested on animals.

Something told me to check in this morning. I'm glad that I saw this thread.

First off, my hat goes off to Efka who has done a marvelous job at keeping some semblance of order around here during my absence.

Secondly, to all the members, thank you for your patience.

The format that is currently in place was intended to exist in conjunction with the reports sections, as they existed in the previous version of OFF, as the older members may recall. The reports sections were removed "temporarily" during the last forum upgrade as we were under-taking a massive re-organization of the both the style and functionality of the board. Unfortunately, I was pulled away from OFF before the forum upgrade was completed and all the new features could be fully implemented, including the new gallery, new reports sections and other new and upgraded features.

I think I'm correct in assuming that much of the conflict here recently is related in part to the absence of the private reports sections, where members may freely discuss detailed reports, including locations, as well as an influx of new and in some cases, rude members. This will be rectified soon, as:

1) When I have some free time, my first order of business will be to read through the last few months of posts and -- to put it bluntly -- I will ban the less "mature" members who Efka has not already banned.
2) I'm planning yet another OFF upgrade at some time in the very near future to include all the upgrades mentioned above and more... once I wrap up the project that I'm currently involved in.

Hopefully the above two measures will assist OFF during these "growing pains". I don't have a precise time-frame yet, but it will be "soon".

In the mean time, I am eliminating the ability to "negative rep". I think this causes hostility and serves no real purpose other than to perpetuate ill will among members.

Thanks for your patience, and I appreciate the feedback.

Cheers,

openfire

Their efforts have been outstanding and I hope in no way my opinions reflected on this.

I appreciate this site and all the wonderful contributors to it.

It is by far the most User Friendly, Open Forum available to us Ontario fishermen.

Specifically the GTA and surrounding areas (“Centre of the Universe”)

Comparisons:

1. I really like the fact that it sticks to FISHING RELATED topics and has not turned into a “Chat Room” like (OFN) they seem to have 99% - “NF” (non fishing) material.

2. I also respect the “Freedom” and Encouragement of SHARED INFORMATION as opposed to:(CRAA)

3. Our site is not also not over indulged with BS advertising and ridiculous POP UPS (WFN)

The board thrives on the CONTRIBUTIONS given on a daily basis by its fine members.
The amount of knowledge shared is staggering.

I have learned many new skills, techniques and met some great fishing partners!

Let us all wish the continued success of OFF.

Sincerely Yours

Blair

Blair sometimes someone has to check the pot to make everone realize it's burning. I'm glad you did it. We all can make this forum unpleasent for the wrong people, who needs them?

This is an awesome forum. There are so many knowledgable guys here and I have used their advice to catch more fish. OFF is like an encyclopedia with everyone knowing something. I wished I had joined long ago, it would have saved me alot of skunked outings.

This is my first forum and it ROCKS. No real need to check others, I'm here to stay because of the great guys that are here. Thanks everyone.

Good fishing all.

I think that everyone should watch this video and remember what fishing is all about...

- getting away from the daily grind...
- being surrounded by nature...
- being with friends...

And, if youre rewarded...

Catch some awesome creatures.

There are 2 more "riptides" videos - same series.
Makes me jones for the creeks...

I think this will help people relax and lighten up a bit.

I think this is a great site filled with tonnes of information, In fact, this site is very "open" with information, good luck trying to get any information off other sites, as some of you may know. The people here are open and friendly which makes for a unique experience for the less experienced "forum" anglers. True, a lot of other websites you'd get bashed or given smart @$$ remarks, it is what it is...

Openfire and Efka are doing their parts keeping the place clean and I'm sure its a lot of work for them, it is hard for only a couple people to run this place, with work, fishing, sleeping, etc. Its hard to please everyone all at once. I, for example, love smart @$$ remarks, they make me laugh.

Blair, don't let the small stuff get to you, look at the overall big picture.
