Hey guys,

Gagnon sports has the bushings version of the Okuma Aventa for $90... that's fairly cheap for a centerpin. But it's the bushings version...

Anybody compared the two versions of the Aventa? VT-1002 vs VT-1000? The 1002 version has two ball bearings.

IMO there is not a huge difference between bushings and bearings...depending what kind of water you fish would determine how much of a difference that you would notice..if you fish big water like the niagra or similar you would not notice much difference..it might spin longer or faster or w e but really it doesnt make a world of difference...now if you were fishing small rivers and streams where a good start up is essential ( short and precise drift ) you will notice the start up is much more fluid in the bearing model vs bushings...basically bearings will spin faster, smoother with very little effort..bushings will spin slower and require more flow to start up...so with that being said if it were me, I would save up for the model with bearings.

Remember that a CP's primary advantage is a "drag-free drift"... I don't see bushing performing very well.
