lesson learned while fishing the upper grand...
old men catch more fish...

why?

because they have hip and chest waders... they go to the fish.... and young chaps like me don't bring sandals to walk into the river...

no trout for me!

Take it from a "young" old man who has fished brookies, browns and rainbows in streams for the last 30 odd years. A pair of waders will put you on a lot of water that is unfishable from shore. Waders don't have to be expensive, I think you can get a pair for about $40 at Canadian Tire. You have to learn to move stealthily down a stream, a wading staff can help. Combined with a vest you can be a self contained fishing unit and wade miles of a river. I prefer chest waders. Many nice trout await us "young" old men, but you can do it too :) . One other tip if you decide to try some waders, tuck your jeans or pants inside your socks before you don your waders, it will avoid quite a bit of discomfort .

GL punkrocker. Wading a few miles of stream is a very enjoyable day.

Alfie, the "young" old man. LOL.

PERFECT! (well said)

You know in the early fall, I usually wear shorts. (I have a high tolerance for `cold water`)
Live out West for 10 years and fish the Freezing glacier water and you`ll know what I mean.

If you GO to the FISH .... the results are amazing.

:) I have fished in shorts before Blair and it is nice, but I also fish steelhead in the Saugeen in Feb. 2 or 3 pair of long johns are needed under the waders to last any amount of time on the water. Lol.
I'm glad you agree tho, wading is an excellent way of fishing a stream or river.

Alfie.
