Hey gang,
I have a whole bunch of old Mustad hooks. They are in little white cardboard boxes with red labels. They say that they are made in Norway. Anybody have any idea as to how old they might be? When did they stop shipping in those boxes?

Sometime prior to the 70s, I believe they went to singapore and they started to get packaged with a yellow tag. Some companies still ship in similar boxes for bulk sale but the traditional plastic clams and sleeves started to show in the late 80s early 90s

They are amazing hooks to tie on and they are highly valuable due to the fact they don't make them the same anymore. I would say to keep it for special fly patterns or sell it. If you are a passionate tier and angler, definately use them. They are super sturdy and make a beautiful base for a fly.
