This was one of my most enjoyable openers in years.
Pulled up to the G around 5:30.
Got myself rigged up and headed down river.
Stopped at a nice size quick run about 4ft in depth.
One other gentleman bout my age on the far bank.
The two of us alternately hooking up steadily.
Like myself he would stay put and land the fish on the spot.
We would both enjoy the battle each would have and wait patiently with our lines out of the water till the other landed his bow.
Couple times my hook pulled out and I would end up in the tree behind me.
This obviously gave him extra time drifting.
After about the third time I was in the tree.
He just looked over and mumbled through the side of his mouth . You sure like that tree don't ya.
Eventually the sun came up and as is the way of opener we were elbowed out of the run.
Still a very enjoyable dual respect opener though.
