Was at a zone 17 trib yesterday. The weather was great.
The water was a bit high, but very fishable.
Steelies were hittin' roe, and I was using egg-sucking leeches and San Juan worms.
I had on four nice ones, never landed a one! hahaha I was using my 7 weight fly rod and had a great time.
When fishing these trout with a tippet, the drag has to be perfect, if they fight the line, they win. The trick with these bigger guys is to keep them fighting the rod.
TIGHT LINES ALL

So very true, I also see others forget to lower the rod tip when the fish jumps. With the kick back of the rod an the fishes head shake snaps the hook or line. I also forget sometimes too. Lol.

I got about 20 fish on the fly opener weekend, it was amazing, i was using a 6-weight loomis with an east fork reel, i used wooly buggers, san juan worms, stoneflies, single egg imitations, and some other nymphs. I landed about 12- 18 of all these fish
