I had made plans to fish with my buddy on opener morning for some Trout.

Once Saturday arrived he picked me up a 6:30 am and headed to a local creek for Steelhead. After about an hour and a half we noticed about 10 Steelhead but none were willing to bite. We decided to move to another small creek for Brook Trout.

Once we arrived we set up and within the first 5 minutes my buddy had already gotten a fish. It was a 5 inch Brookie. We released it quickly and went back to fishing. After another 5 minutes my friend tied into the second catch of the day. A 10" Brown Trout (I'm not 100% sure this is a Brown. It has the black dots signifying it's a brown but my friend said there's only Rainbows and Specs in the river. Can anybody help me ID it.

After that it was about 20 minutes before we found our next fish. The next fish was a 1' 1" Brook Trout caught by my brother. I love the coloration on this one.

After this we had caught about 5 more but they were un-photographed but I had still not caught my first.

We fished for another half hour before catching another fish. My very first Brook Trout. About 7".

Once I got my first fish I didn't stop and I caught 5 more while my brother and friend had not caught anymore.

I went home at about 11:30 am because my friend had to study for his exam.

After relaxing at home for a bit I hit up a local pond for some catfish.

I was successful with 1 Brown Bullhead Catfish and 1 OOS Bass (released quickly)

sweet we're u guys using fly rods or spinning gear
I started the day on the fly but after my morning skunkfest I switched to my spinning rod with a worm like everyone else and started to get my fish.

Same thing happened to me when I got my first brookie, worked hard for my first one but after I caught it, I got 5+ more within a short period of time. They do love worms!

The 13"er is a very nice sized brook trout.

First pic is a brown for sure.
