Hey all,

A few buddies and myself are looking at fishing around Orangeville this coming weekend. We don't have a working boat at the moment so we will be shore fishing. Personally, I have the most interest in Bass and Pike.

So far we have been looking at Island Lake right in Orangeville or Belwood lake in Fergus just 20 minutes west. I have done some online research and Belwood (the Grand River + Lake area) seems to have mixed reviews, while Island Lake has thumbs up all around.

Any help on the two lakes, or any other recommended lakes, would be great!

Thanks!

Island lake isn't what it once was, LM and pike mostly. Be prepared for lots of weed. The far west arm of the lake is the deepest and I've caught a 41" pike down there but that was a while back now. This lake doesn't offer much shore fishing that I would say is worth trying.

Belwood will be busy this weekend and again ins't somewhere I tend to go these days but It does offer lots of shore fishing and if you have time check out the river below the dam.

Doesn't organelle have its own lake, called ORANGEVILLE RESOVIOR? Look it up you may find it also.

Island Lake would be that name, as mentioned in the first post on this thread.

Just at Island Lake this weekend visiting some family in Orangeville. Water has retreated so much from what i'm used to. Definitely bring or rent a boat/kayak and head out into the more open water if you're interesting in going. Tons of vegetation as @fisherman2280 said making if difficult to fish the shore.

Brought the rods regardless but didn't end up wetting the line. Maybe next season.

Caledonia Dam! You can walk in the water (swimming trunks or waders) setup in the middle of the dam. I have caught some large and small mouth Bass, Pike, Walleye and suckers there.

My friends have also caught catfish, carp and saugers!
