My buddy comes up from Niagara last night and I need to put him, and myself, on fish today (Eastern Tribs). We head out and get to our first location for sun up 630. Not as many cars as I expected.... river was really low and clear. Great... well we were there we said, so we fished a couple pools for good measure. Finally we pack up and head to the next trib. Had a pike enticed by my buddies fly but that was it. We end up packing up and relocating a total of FIVE times, covering 72 kilometers of 401 stretch. PFFT. We were going to pack it in but we decided to try this last trib.
Meet up with a few OFF guys probably around 1230 only to hear they've had better days. lol. Oh well, we drove to get there we were going to fish it for a while. So we try the first run for a while. Nothing. Try the next run for a while. Nothing. After 7 hours we are getting tired and I tell him there is one more spot I lost one the other weekend. We mozy on up to the last place I can think of that could maybe hold fish in this dry clear spell. I am fed up with the darn chubs smashing my roe and ruining it. anyways. drift. drift. drift. drift. WHAMMMOOO!!! Holy $#% ! That aint no chub !!! All I think to myself is rod up and for the love of god PLEASE do not break off on the branches.
I bring her in safe and sound. A couple quick pics and she was back in the water to see another day. (I hope I didn't do something bad to/ with the fish by taking these pictures.....)
While I am retying up (CP) my buddy (Fly) says he wants some of my roe bags  so he is drifting away and what do you know. 8 hours on the river and WHAMO he is hooked up 2 minutes after me in the same hole. I was so excited we both managed to hook up. Its been a long time comin! But its not that easy. His fish darts for the beaver dam! hahahahaha. We though he was toast. I can't believe the line didn't snap... he got it out and we got the fish! Again, back in the water after safe and sound
Stoked on my first steel of this fall! It's about time
