so besides littering and snaggers, what are your biggest pet peeves on the rivers? for me it's someone standing beside me smoking, especially if the wind is blowing in my direction

The people that suddenly move closer when you hook a fish.

The ones that try to jump in your spot while you're chasing a fish or landing it.

The morons that drift a busy pool from the top of it to the tail out.

The people that have no river etiquette. Casting over your lines, not removing their lines when you're fighting a fish etc.

for me it's when you hook into a fish and you immediately get a guy who thinks it's ok to snuggle up to you and cast over and under you..........man if you're that guy...........don't do that, it pisses people off

ugh...had a guy do that to me monday morning, i almost threw him into the river, he woulda been a little chilly in his jeans, running shoes and leather jacket lol

When people fish 1 foot downstream of where you are standing... especially in the smaller creeks.

When you break off, re-tie, and break off due to snag the next cast...

When you get to confident in your ninja logjam casting skills... see above.

But #1 of all...

The people who find the fish (I see it a lot with salmon) by stomping through all the pools!

People that walk across the river right where I'm fishing. They never seem to cross the river quietly either...SPLASH SPLASH SPLASH! And then they come up to you and ask how the fishing is.

people who throw hardware into a small pool that is already being fished

Just wondering where you've had this happen before? What would you consider a small pool?

If a pool is small, and is already being fished, then *no one* should go fish it, irrespective of what they're using (whether it be hardware, flies, live bait, or roe).

If a pool is large enough to be shared comfortably by 2 or more anglers, then whatever each angler is using should not be of much significance.

Case in point: I've shared numerous sections of water with guys floating while I was using lures, and vice versa, and everyone caught fish.

The other day I was casting lures, and another guy was drifting nearby. A third angler arrived, and began drifting right where I was casting to. I didn't sweat it, and just altered the path of my cast. There's plenty of water within walking distance, so no use causing a stink.

My biggest pet peeve is when someone, apparently the "MNR", dislodges a beaver dam the day before opener, turning a pool that was previously holding 75-100 trout, into a trickle

For me it's people complaining about my smoking. Followed by people asking me if I have "anymore of those cigars?".

lol, I was gonna ask if some nice cubans are included in the smoking peeve. I recently got some cohiba mini's from a reserve booth in southampton and im loving em. Gonna have to stock up again soon, only 2 left!

SO TRUE!

People taking you place when you retie, splashing in pools your fishing, casting over your line and generally acting like your invisible.

People moving into a pool when you re-tie or land a fish and say "don't worry i'll move once your done". Then you stand there waiting for them to move and they don't.

When your fishing with your children and you have to leave because someone shows up and can't form a sentence without the word f***.
