We are having a photography contest that will end on February 14th, 2009.

The winner will receive a beautiful painting of an Ontario fish of their choice, painted by our resident artist Balapickerel.

You may enter up to 6 photographs of whatever you like, as long as it is a photograph that you shot, and the photo is not photoshopped.

The winning entry will be selected on February 15th, 2009.

Thanks to Balapickerel for offering his time and talent in providing the prize.

Now let's see some photographs!

Here's my first entry.

This picture was taken this last summer (August 2008), when I took a road trip to Nova Scotia and PEI. In this picture, we were whale watching off the coast of Cape Breton when a Humpback Whale breached the surface right beside the boat next to us. The same Humpback had been underneath our boat just minutes before.

Great Shot Openfire....has anyone set Rules yet??
Is Mikey allowed to submit NUDES??? You know he's gonna ask!!

This Humpback was not afraid of the boats at all. We were in one of about 4 boats in the area, and the Humpback was interacting with the all of the boats. I have a video of the humpback first going underneath our boat, then coming up right in front of us on the other side of the boat. It was amazing. We could have literally reached over the side and touched it. There were also a large group of pilot whales in the area hanging around the humpback. I have lots of pics of the whales up close. It was the best part of the trip by far. If you're ever in Nova Scotia, go to Pleasant Bay in Cape Breton and go whale watching. You won't be disappointed.

LOL! No nudes, unless you happen to be a hot chick, in which case you can PM me the pics directly. That eliminates MikeyMikey. Sorry buddy. lol

Other than that, feel free to submit whatever pictures you want. Balapickerel will pick the winning entry.

You've said no Photoshop allowed? So... I won't be able to pixelate my parts.
j/k.

No Photoshop allowed? Meaning I can't fix colours, brightness etc... ?
You want As-Is straight from the Camera?

Need to explain better.

Here's my first entry.
Took this just about an hour ago.

Was eating lunch and saw that my parents orchid was flowering nicely!
Grabbed the camera and shot away. I'm still learning a lot as this is my first SLR :D

I'm limited to shoot things in the house since it's too cold to go out and do anything haha.

Camera: Canon EOS 450D
Lens: Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 "nifty fifty"

Man, I love those cardinals!
Some of them frequent my yard... will definitely have to grab the camera next time. The red is so vibrant!

we also get downy woodpeckers and hairy woodpeckers but by the time i grab my camera there allways gone.

you know what's crazy, i once saw a red tailed hawk sitting on my fence feasting on a european starling or house sparrow it had just caught.
I just sat there and watched it rip the insides out of the poor bird!
Left a bloody mess on the fence, but was cool to watch!
