Pier/Surf fishing during the summer

I have been getting into pier and surf fishing at river mouths this spring, and was wondering if there is any chance of catching fish at river mouths during the summer. Salmon and steelhead would be my main targets, but any other species would be fine with me. I mainly cast lures and bottom fish with roe.

Won't have any luck catching Lake O steel or salmon until mid August - and even then is slim pickings until things begin to cool. I suggest going to the Lower Niagara river for some late spring steelhead. They tend to hang around there longer. Sometimes until June.

There are a few places where this is plausible but you are limited on options forsure.

Atlantics and brownies will cruise at the river mouths

right now. great for brown trout. spoons are the best for this type of fishing because of the distance you can cast them. summer you will most probably catch pike. they will be all over the place.
