I see months prior to trout opener that people are really looking forward to it. Others can't sleep, some got jittery, and a few are gearing up for it already (saving roe, tying beads etc.). How about our toothy critter friends? Anyone excited at all? I know I am...

When does it open?

Pike you can really catch in numbers any time in the warmer months from what I have been told. Trout people get excited about bc its usually a 2 week thing at best. (in large numbers)

i cant wait for pike/eye opener!! i gotta stay kinda local for the opener due to work but may 24 im headed north for some big ole gators and eyes !!

Never paid much attention to pike/eye opener before but this year I am super pumped. I've been making some pike and walleye specific spoons/spinners and the pike stuff is fun to make because you can really up-size it.

Mostly...I'm pumped to see some BIG swirls and strikes and to get out the winch and casting rod to chuck some heavy hardware...

It was nice to cash in on Quebec laker opener...with Ontario pike/eye opener, Quebec pike/eye opener, two Ontario bass openers (15th&22nd) and Quebec bass opener (14th) I am in heaven for the next while. D@mn am I gonna spend a lot on gas tho...

This is my second year being a dual-citizen angler and I don't regret it at all...the extra 67.25 is worth every penny.

I am stoked! Pike is my favorite species and though I have some good spots already I can't wait to get out and do some more exploring this year. Not long to go!

generally I catch all my pike in june/july/august so not really, that seems to be more of a personal problem for myself though

Was on Georgian Bay this weekend for the opener up there. Planned on 90% pike fishing and maybe 10% walleye fishing. Hit a few sandy bays where the water temps were just right and counted 3, 5, 8 pike at a time depending on the bay we were in. One bay, a well kept secret apparently had 20+ pike in it on wednesday.

I didn't manage to catch any pike bigger than 27 inches but we spotted a few pushing 40". Could NOT get them to bite though.

After 3 days of pike fishing I did some jigging for walleye. We landed 7 or 8 16"-19" males and then the perch rolled in and we started losing all our minnows. Just as we were getting fed up BAM... This cow chomped down. 32.5 inches and easily over 12 lbs.

Put her back to grow some more! Strong healthy fish.

If anyone fishes Georgian Bay either out of parry sound or north out of Point Au Baril PM me. I would love to share notes.

I would also love to hear from anyone fishing pike around Toronto. I grew up in Parry Sound but live and work in Toronto now. Feel kinda lost about where to begin up here.

Fish ON!

Wow, your the man! Nice walleye!

Toronto angler as well, now I just fish ponds in the city, but this season I hope to fish the islands more...

I'll keep you in the loop, if I hear of anything. Maybe try to contact the Toronto Urban Fishing Ambassadors.

Thanks for the link, TUFA looks good and quite informative. I am a piker by nature, glad to see more opportunites than the singular place I know within half hour of me in Mississauga

Glad I could help.

Lots of Real nice & big Pike down at Harbourfront - Right now!
Thing is, their post spawn moody.

Not really hitting anything.
Even if its put right in front of their yap.

Still nice to see them there.
Hope they created thousand of little babies this year.

Now that their on to the Gobies, next step is to get used to eating the SOON to BE Asian Carp.
I believe the balance will work out.

From a video I saw, they'd take a worm right now. :)
