Pike, Walleye and Carp on the Fly

Hey everyone!

As said in the title, my 3 new target species for 2013 are pike, walleye, and carp. I'm going to be purchasing a Pike Saber rod setup for the Pike (and I think the rod will be able to work for the carp as well).

I am, however, just a bit curious as to what everyone's favourite pike, walleye, and carp flies are? What are your target species this year?

I think it would be difficult to fly fish for eyes... for pike use streamers and the like, for carp maybe a yellow yarn egg could look like a corn kernel. Good luck!

Thanks, FishingNoob! I figured the streamers for pike. For the eyes, I'm still not sure either - I've seen a few articles & videos here and there, but nothing too in depth. The carp flies are what I'm looking for the most - there's a small river not 10 minutes from my house that holds them, and I would love to hear my reel screaming!

Thanks, FishingNoob! I figured the streamers for pike. For the eyes, I'm still not sure either - I've seen a few articles & videos here and there, but nothing too in depth. The carp flies are what I'm looking for the most - there's a small river not 10 minutes from my house that holds them, and I would love to hear my reel screaming!

Big streamers or fish imitations for pike. As for the carp, use google images and type in 'carp flies'.

I caught a walleye once on the fly but was targeting steelhead. Usually they hang out near the bottom, and they live in deeper water bodies, so i imagine they're hard to catch on the fly.

Think I'll go for steel first then brown then in summer LM and SM bass and pike on the fly this year. I'll tie up the flies for the steel and browns. I already have some bass flies, just have to tie up pike flies.
