Yeah it was a fantastic experience. I had never seen so many fish in one river, The salmon would pass by in groups of 10-15. Pink Salmon are really aggressive, twice when i tired to back cast, my fly would touch the water and i would begin the motion to load up for the cast, i ended up setting the hook in a salmon. In 3 hours i think i landed around 20 fish, i was basically fish on for every drift.

Awesome fish, even better that it was your first time fly fishing.

Gotta love the hump backs on those male pink salmon.
The bigger males with their humps sort of used them as a sail to plane against the current. Really cool to fight one. From what i understand though the upper limit for size on a pink is about 10lbs, at least in that area. I ended up using a 6wt rod, so the bigger ones really gave me a run for my money

Amazing!

Can I ask, at what age to the salmon turn that pink color with green heads?

Amazing pics tho!

Those would be sockeye salmon...
Yeah you might be thinking of a sockeye. Pink male salmon get a large hump hence the nickname of humpies during the mating migration
