Please help me identify these fish..

Hello. These fish are from close to Long Point, i think it was called Big Creek .. where the trail and the lookout point is. I think they are Carp but are they safe to eat? Thanks

I think those are bowfin also known as ling.

These are definetly Bowfin/Ling.

We get them in Big creek near Delhi and Walshingham occasionally. Nobody I know eats them. But one never knows until they try them I guess.

Some friends of mine used to get these while ice fishing. They ate em and apparently they are pretty good.

Ling are one of the best fish to eat!
Im pretty sure they nicknamed the FRESHWATER COD for a reason.
Check youtube on how to clean them.!
