Are you talking about the round nets that you lower down by rope? If so, they use them at Discovery Pier on Vancouver Island. I've seen them used and they work. From what I saw they can be used by one person, but much easier with two. I just checked and yep it's very similar to what I saw used, except they weren't collapsible and bigger.

Hope this helps.

yeah that's the one i'm talking about,i have a landing net and i need to modify it to make it longer, need to add another section to it.i saw this pop-net on line looks like it might be a good option for me,just read that it doesn't seem go under the surface of the water when your trying to use it.

When my uncle first started fishing 40 years ago, he took a bicycle wheel frame attached some netting to it threw a rope on it and used it to land fish from above a dam... Still has the net, works like a charm.

You could probably make something similar by cutting the handle off of a net and then drill some holes in the tubing so that it would fill with water and sink and also drain as you pulled it up. Either that or make your own with some tubing and a bender.

thanks guys looks like i will try and lengthen my net i have now, maybe try to make something like those pop-nets or maybe just pick one of them up :)
