Hello everybody, I'm looking for info on canoe and portage routes that would offer great fishing as a reward for a bit of hard work. I usually concentrate on bass an pike but some trout and salmon wouldn't be bad either. I'm somewhat of a naturalist so I'm weary of good fish etiquette. Anyone willing to share some knowledge is greatly appreciated. Email me if you wanna speak privately. Thanks!

Thanx for the reply, ill travel anywhere really, the more remote the better. Muskoka, Halliburton, algonquin...doesn't matter just want to get out to where most people won't go or don't know about. Seems like every year me and friends have to travel further and further to encounter good fishing, because many people treat lakes as if they were a No Frills. So I'm willing to put in some work to get better results. Already know if one spot which is crab lake accessible from wolf lake I believe, heard good things if you are interested as well. Thanks again

Ok so I made the mistake of mentioning names of lakes which is illegal and I forgot. Email me and we'll talk. Willing to travel pretty much anywhere. Halliburton, muskoka, algonquin etc. thanks for your help my email is [email protected]

Portage trips are great. Algonquin has many but if you want to travel a bit further check out Lady Evelyn and the Teagami area. You may never go anywhere else. Lakers, Pike, Bass, Walleye, Specks and Auroras.

Love bushwhacking to find the hardly fished waters even if it requires a day just to canoe/portage into the lake. Some of my most memorable trips were the ones that I looked at map - picked a route and went with the flow. I like using the MNR FishOnline tool to get ideas. Typically, the further north you go, the less people you will see and the more wild it is ( I know, sounds obvious right ) however there are many great remote lakes within 3 hours of Toronto... thing is you need to put in a lot of work finding them or someone tells you where to go... and not to many people will tell you exactly where to go.

Familiarize yourself with what to do when encountering the animals that can hurt you and welcome to the forum :)

Portaging is great fun. You do need to know the risks going out into remote areas way up north. Fishing way north is just amazing thousands of untouched lakes that hold monster fish.

Queen Elizabeth 2 provincial park is pretty cool. My CCR site has a couple of routes listed with portage details. Excellent bass fishing.

I did a 7 day solo trip into Quetico park west of Thunder bay in Sept 2012 it is a canoe access only park. Saw 4 people and over a hundred fish. I'm eyeing up the Wabakimi prov park next. You can load your canoe on the Via in Sudbury and get dropped off and picked at points in the park. The train stops there every three days.

Thanx for all the info guys! It's gonna take a bit researching and a lot if planning but there are definetly good resources out there. It's my first trip out solo, I think I'm just going into algonquin park for some pike and possibly walleye.
Thanx again, and Good fishing everyone!
