2009 has been a pretty great year for me in terms of time on the water. Largely due to the fact that I was finally able to get off shore and fish various areas I wasn't able to get to years before.

Crappie fishing is a passion of mine and is the species responsible for getting me hooked on fishing when I was a young lad. Managed my personal best this year with a chunky 14 incher. Lots of fish in the 12-13 inch range though. Great season I must say.

Walleyes were EVERYWHERE this year. Definitely saw an increase in population. Mostly on the small side, but this only means that there will be more bigger fish in the years to come :)

Topwater walleyes...rarely experienced. What a rush! Very aggressive hits right at the surface.

Big bass of the year -- guess is around 5, but not close to the pig I got last year around the 6 mark. Topwater bassing is the best way to spend summer evenings

Only salmon for me of the year...scrappy male. With my new float setup on standby, I am ready to add steelhead to the list.

My girlfriend (chibi on this forum) didn't get out much this year, but still managed some nice fish.

You guys had a pretty good season in 2009, I don't think I got anywhere as good. Walleye were never caught over 18"....bass weren't huge....crappie weren't in big numbers....Although I did get my first muskie and pike this year...Though they don't have quality pictures....

Anyways, I'm not gonna post any pictures because I don't think any were that memorable this year...I'm just gonna hope that 2010 is going to be absolutely amazing. Especially with the zone 17 changes.

Wasn't out too much this year, however we did go fishing 100 km north of Sudbury. I swear to God it was awesome, you had lakes beside lakes and you would catch smallmouth one after the other. Here's a pic from our second day, we caught over 20, took 5 back to the campsite for some dinner:

I love that spot, primarily because it can only be accessed by a smallboat, and only if you have the stamina to push past the current made by the beaver dams. The campsites are on one lake, where it was too shallow to have any fish, but going through a little canal you reach a lake that receives almost zero fishing pressure!

Very Cool Mykster! Reminds me of a special little hole I discovered around Parry Sound a number of years back. It see's like 1 or 2 people/per year! Bass and gills only; but it's a blast. Call it my secret Bass Lake X.

2009 was a great year and better then all the fishing it was the birth of my first child, my daughter Taylor. She is definately the most memorable moment of 2009.

Now to the fishing.

There was this 20" Smallie which would be a PB for most people, but not for me.

Then there was the day fellow board member ec1(Edwin) and I went out and although I was seriously outfished by Edwin, my one and only fish of the day proved to be the biggest. Nice to have a fellow board member with you for a day of fishing. 8)
