Putting lower line on a rod set for higher line weight.

What should I expect if I put 20 lb test braid with the diameter of 6lb on a rod that is made for line weight 8-17lb? Can I still put it on?

Yes you can put the line on. I would recommend using a flurocarbon leader of say 10 pounds so you can break off your leader if you get snagged and you will catch more fish with a flurocarbon leader.

Always use one. Thanks. The first time I used one I could not imagine how cool it looked. All I could see was my lure in the water. Everyone should use them. I have even put it on a spare spool. It was a true experience.

Only time I run into trouble is with braids less than 12lb - trouble casting with my rod because of the small diameter.
