i fish in a river where theres a no fish zone and i was wondering if you can stand on the fish able area and cast into the sanctuary. ive met people who say its legal as long as you dont cross that boundary and some who've told me otherwise, i just want to clear this up before i try something illegal
cheers and tightlines

it says NO FISHING in the sanctuary, not no standing. so if you FISH in the NO FISHING ZONE, it is against the law. also if you see people do that, report them to mnr right away.

not sure. i assume if officers comes around some how you have to explain the situation. BUT there is a difference between a sanctuary, a no fish zone and specie specified zones.

i like to add, there is almost no chance they will put a sanctuary right by a fishable hole that you would catch a fish out of. more than likely there will be a hole that is near a specie specified zone, like cn bridge that your fish could take your line above it.

example i can fish north of highway two, just cant be for salmon and trout. i can fish though. but in a sanctuary i can't even drop line.

Casting into a sanctuary is definitely illegal. I once saw a couple guys get busted for this out east by the MNR.

If you're casting on a no fish zone, that's where you're fishing. Same as "fishing for suckers" but a lot less subtle.

CT its not worth it, It's just a fish you can catch again next time you come back, with your skills it will be easy. Fish anywhere and stay away from sanctuary.

i can think of several areas where there are pools near sanctuaries and no fish zones, and the likely hood of fish running into the sanctuary/zone is pretty good

ya the sanctuaries are usually loaded, lol, no fish in the holes, take a walk near the sanctuary, there are fins sticking out of the water!, the fish aren't stupid, they know where the fishermen won't get them, lol

Its like fishing on a fish zone during an opener. But when the fish takes line and take it close to the dam. Its best to cut your line. Good you ask cut it idnot worth it. You might lose your fishing privilege not just your gear.

lol no need to fish in trout sanctuaries. This recent notion that there aren't fish in the open sections just isn't true.
