Long time viewer, first time poster. I'm new to center-pin fishing and just recently got my first modest setup. I ultimately ended up with a float rod with sliding seats. Again, being new to the gear I didn't exactly know how to secure them (seats), which was simply addressed by a PM from a board member. Taping is apparently the way to go, but that has the practical limitation of always having to keep the reel on. That's not a bad thing necessarily but I wondered why someone didn't make a quick release of some sort. Well apparently Kigan company in Korea has.
It cost me 15 bucks and in short it seems worth the money. I would not rate it first quality, but it's got a decent build and holds the reel securely. I'd say it's a good pairing for someone on a budget who wants to use the rod for both pin and spin. It has a ratcheting mechanism that works well and the latch locks with a positive feel. The one pro or con (you be the judge) is that it sets the reel a couple more milometers off the rod. For me it feels better as it lets my fingers stretch out a bit more to control the reel. But then again I'm completely new to centerpins and don't know if that's a good thing or bad.
I am not trying to pedal these, for all I know this could be a well known accessory but I've yet to see it in my travels. Don't know what the policy is about posting sources so if anyone wants to know simply PM me - or if it's cool I'll post the stores name.
Here are the two versions:
Here's the basic sliding seats sans tape;
And here's the quick release mounted:
