Rabbit Strip Wiggle Hex Nymph

OK - so the good news is that you are really improving IMO - and the eye is not crowded! AND this fly will catch fish for sure.
From your picture (which may be at a bit of an angle) I would say the abdomen (tail) on the fly is longer than on Wolverine, and also longer than on the real nymph. This time you are trying to imitate a bug, not just tie a fishing fly so a little more detail is required. Fortunately you can trim the tail a bit and and it will turn out perfect. Gary Borger would be proud. Although the example shown has marabou for the tail, he also uses a strip of fur - I find that mink (from an old hat) works best in this size.
I am only trying to help/coach from a distance, not be negative, but web/email is challenging sometimes. As mentioned in one of your other offerings, one of the most clear and comprehensive online series of lessons is at FlyAnglersOnline where the flies start easy and new techniques are progressively added. Cheers.

thanks the for the feed back, the tail might be 1/4" longer on the hide than what wolverine used, he sai 3/4" on the hide, i didn't get a ruler out, just estimated. the hardest part was trying to figure out how to tie in the eyes.....big hands an small eyes don't go well lol

Yes to the 3/4" idea, except the fly has to be in proportion to itself too. Since Wolverine suggests 3 hook sizes, this leads to 3 fly sizes - even the pic on Wlv seems to have a long tail IMO. In this picture you sill see the thorax is about 35% of the whole body. In a way it is a WB with a fur tail, so will catch a variety of fish in many waters.
Again, not picking on you, you are moving forward very well, so we might as well put you in the right direction.
Cheers, JL

for the tails most times i try to go with shank length. i;ll do up another one tonight an try a little shorter tail.
think im using a size 6 or 8 caddis hook, since sail doesn't have the exact hook he used, don't worry about picking it apart, its why i post the stuff i tie.
