Rapala Shadow Rap

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

I haven't tried it yet however I could see this working well when trolling. It seems like a cross between the minnow and original floater.

I dont see it as a trolling bait at all, the whole action is really built in the pause. Fish it cold water and on pressured fish, sllllloooowww is the name of the game with the shadow rap.

almost every single rapala bait lists the running depth. its just to show you how deep it will dive or suspend to in normal circumstances.
you wouldnt want a 20 foot deep diver on a 4 foot deep piece of water right?(at least not always)

on topic though, those shadow raps are deadly for any aggressive species and a friend of mine has been smashing steel with them in frogwater pools.

It's a slow sink/suspending bait, listing the running depth gives you an idea of where the lure will suspend on a regular cadence retrieve. You can fish it shallower or deeper by playing around with line size and retrieve rate.

I wish Fishing World was near me.

Does anyone know what other shops in the GTA that carry these other then Sail/BassPro/LeBaron?
Gagnon Sports in Oshawa has them, Fishing Worlds price is the best though.

Bought a couple and tried them out, I liked the action and they had more flash in the water when compared to an x rap. The shadow rap claims on the package to have more side to side action but I actully find that the x raps are better side to side. The one down side of the shadow rap is the hooks are really weak and get bent/broken way too easily!

It is a suspending plug. I don't think it will produce more strikes if you put it side by side with a husky jerk or a daiwa db minnow...or a smithwick. my favorite lure for aggressive fish is daiwa db minnow and big O cc. and i'm not afraid to lose 'em on a snag. my husky jerks are pretty much safe on my tackle box...

I got mine and I'm a big fan.

Lovin the side to side action and it's very easy to use. I wish I had them during pike opener because my friend has been smashing them on this lure. I was out fished when I was using a husky jerk and x-rap. When I was having no luck all day, I took my friends rod to make a cast, next thing I see is a pike follow. I am a shadow rap believer.

I wish they came in a bigger size and they could improve the trebles...pike will destroy these hooks no problem.
