My line on my spool is tight when I re spool it but when I cast it for the first time and reel in the line,it becomes loose. Also the line tends to wrap more at the bottom of the spool. Does anyone know what I should do ?

I would appreciate the help.

typically over 8lb mono gets way too thick and the memory of the line wants to keep it in bigger coils than the spool so as soon as the tension is gone the line expands and coils up thats why i would personally suggest that you keep your line braid with a leader, if anything braid has more advantages than the latter and is way more abrasion ressistant , one of the reasons i prefer it, pm me if you need help on what brands and such ill be happy to help

Ya go with braid, pick up a spool of PowerPro line, I've used a bunch of different braids and I find that PowerPro is probably one of the best braids out there

Completely agree, tried other braids and I personally find this to be the best, Have tried mono and did not like the way it holds the spool characteristics.

you must be reeling in the line without tension, otherwise that shouldn't be happening. Always make sure you have tension on the line when reeling in. As for the line grouping on the top or the bottom most decent reels come with washers you can use as spacers to eliminate that from happening. Braid is great but mono has its place in many situations.

yep for me its either powerpro for the heavier stuff 40-80 and spiderwire for the lighter stuff 20-40 both are great lines

I recently spooled up 10 lb seaguar kanzen braid and I think I'm in love.

power pro is the best in terms of holding their knots and having less wear and tear down the road. Highly recommend if you use braid and fish in clear waters to use the seaguar fluorocarbon abraxz as a fishing leader. Approx 4-6 ft in length with a uni to uni knot.
