Hey all,

After browsing various Ontario fishing forums over the past while, I decided to join and hopefully give back to those whom I have learned from!

I am a 29 year old high school teacher from Brampton. Loved fishing as a kid, and started to rediscover the passion last summer. Bought a fishing boat in spring which turned out to be a awesome decision. Have had soem wicked times! Full blown fishaholic!!

Have learned tons of past year and look forward to learning more.

Nice to meet you all!!

I'm originally from Brampton myself, happy to have you aboard!

Congrats on the fishing boat!

Welcome aboard. I was diagnosed as a fishaholic about 40 years ago.
I grew up in Brampton. I know lots of good spots nearby, unfortunately a boat won't help much at any of them as they all involve streams and rivers :)
What hi-school are you teaching at? I'm a Turner grad from before it became Turner-Fenton.

Alfie.

Welcome fellow AA (Angler's Anonymous) ........lol. If you got pics of your boat, I'd like to see it and pics of your catches. Welcome.

Alfie - Do you still feel good fishing spots around Brampton? I know it has changed a lot over past ten years. I haven't even tried!!

Grubman - Boat nothing special, but finding it great value for money and a nice little beginning fishing boat. 16 ft sea nymph, 30hp Evinrude, bought a 55lb powerdrive to go with it which I absolutly love, goes all day!! Has good storage, livewell and such. Does everything I need, but cannot help but droll over some of those new Lunds/Pricecrafts etc I see!!

Find attached biggest bass of season (Caught off a dock, go figure) and only pic I have I think of entire boat (I'm holding it).

Starting to get experience to go with all I've read!! Mostly pike and bass this summer, fave technique is jitterbugging at dusk for largies, super exciting. Would like to give muskie at LSC another shot soon (only one when I tried a month ago, found the crazy amount of weeds made it hard to troll). Hoping to go for steelhead in Niagara River for first time this fall.

Hey Adam, I know how much Brampton has changed over the years. When I was a kid it was a 20 minute drive to get to Mississauga and I grew up near hwy 10 and Steeles Ave. My parents still live there and it is a whole new world compared to when I grew up. I'm not even sure what you are referring to when you say Brampton. True Bramptonians do not recognize Bramalea as part of Brampton to this day
Anyway Adam, you want to fish near Brampton where it is still good, two words, Credit River. To the north near Caledon for Trout ( special regs tho ). Around Meadowvale and south almost everything. Chrome and Salmon when the run is on. A scattering of Pike and Bass and lots of Panfish, Cats, Carp and Suckers to name but a few. It is one of those rivers you never know what you have hooked until you see it. I still fish out that way, not as much as I used to, but still have success.
Also worth a mention is the upper Humber and the Albion Hills area. I do well up there too. And I hear, but have not tried the lake by Orangeville also contains Bass and Pike.

Alfie.

Alfie,

I will def try out the credit river. I have heard it is different from a few. I'm close to hwy 410 and Bovaird so pretty much middle of b-town. With the population of area assumed credit would be overfished other then when Salmon are running. I will maybe try and discover it this weekend.

I have tried Island Lake in Orangeville a few times, good for small pike, panfish although did catch one 3lb largemout there. Very shallow, tons of stumps in sections have to really watch your trolling motor (electric only).

Thanks
